We have called this out pre mdwe on forum and dozens of times over the previous 5 years I rarely have to agree with anything this guy says but he is absolutely correct. However GROSSLY underestimating the scope and size of what has happened. Not just this model it’s rampant throughout the submariner and explorer market as well as Tudor subs. Seen thousands on thousands minimum mint references with same polishing and dial mistakes pop up year after year in well known dealer inventory and on IG collectors pages. high end fakes replicated with 60s etc watchmaking tools and like materials has run rampant through the vintage Rolex market for the last decade. We know who owns the websites they were for sale on that are now long deleted and what blogs, websites , and auction houses have hyped them up. These were not made in some sweatshop in China but rather in the Bay Area California and hyped by very famous global dealers who have access to liquid cash buyers in Asia who want to get their money out. They were duped by slick same language speaking dealers and Completed watch media who are really just accomplices in the crime. They made detailed videos on mega collections knowing to hype for upcoming sales and auctions. So much fuckery has gone down and now all the uneducated buyers have been coming to conclusion their can’t miss investments in mass produced beaters are not only just a poor allocation of capital but in many many circumstances not even the real deal. IG post references just the Italian made ones when this is just a drop in the bucket and small potatoes compares to what I am referencing.
